NEW RAD PATTERNS RELEASE AND SALE: THE GUERNICA ROMPER
On sale now for $8.00 until June 4th.  Click on the link for your pdf  copy.

I had the pleasure of testing and sewing up the Guernica Romper. I have never made or worn a long pant romper before and wasn't sure how I would like the fit. I am so glad I had this opportunity because it is the most comfortable long pant romper I have worn. it feels like wearing pjs. I wore my romper to my salsa class and received many compliments and was even asked what store did I purchase, lol.

My version is the cuffed pants romper with  pockets. It also has a buttoned back opening. I made my romper from a medium weight rayon jersey, with great stretch and recovery. I made no adjustments to the pattern other than shorten bodice 2", because I am 5' 3 1/2" tall. Pattern does come with shorten cut lines. The pockets are meant to be a tad bit wider than a normal pocket and droop a little lower.

Shown below are the options and a size chart available in the Guerica Romper. I find Rad Patterns run true to size for my body measurements.

THE KIERA SKIRT ROAD TOUR
BY

I have had the pleasure of testing and sewing the Kiera skirt. Unlike any other skirt I have sewn or worn, this skirt has many options and with a twist, ribbons sewn underneath the skirt. Options include, two waist options, including a shirred back waist, a wide sash, and ribbons under neath the skirt. Many uses, a summer skirt, a fall skirt, a dance skirt, a belly dance skirt, use your imagination.

I at first was a tad bit skeptical of sewing the skirt when I saw the specs, I felt I wouldn't wear it, I have already worn it twice. I am so happy Ann Grose, from Designer Stitch, convinced me that this skirt would be fun to sew and wear, after all, she is the Designer and knows best. When I went looking for fabric, I wasn't sure what I was looking for. I found this beautiful crinkled woven fabric with a sheen, at Joann's.

My version of the Kiera skirt sewn with 8 gore panels together, a wide dropped down waist band, which is very flattering on the waist, and many ribbons sewn between the inside seams throughout. The ribbons when tied together, help shape the skirt any way you want, as shown in the picture below. I sewed a narrow sash, but has the option of a wider sash.

When left untied, the skirt will have a nice flowy look, as shown in the pictures below. Paired with my Kiera skirt is the Weekend Kat blouse, also from Designer Stitch.

The Kiera skirt can be made with many light woven fabrics, is fun to sew and wear, is figure flattering, and you too will enjoy creating your own vision of the Kiera skirt.

The Weekend Kat blouse shown with the Kiera skirt, is another Design Stitch pdf. Shown here with decorative rayon trim applied.

Kiera Skirt options shown.

Thank you Ann Grose for another great and fun design,

MY SEWING STORY
I am Synthia lee Gerritson
Live in Los Banos, Calfornia U.S.A.
Been single for the last 17 years and I am obsessed with sewing.

I was very young, 9 years old when I developed the desire to sew and be creative. I would sit in front of my grandmother, mesmerized by how she would tear up old cloths to create beautiful quilts. Being poor, I wanted to sew my cloths. I would ask my grandmother for her old dresses, cut them up, and create my own dresses, to look just like the style of that time. I had no patterns or sewing machines, I sewed by hand.

I continued to sew for my children and others' as an adult. I would sew bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, wedding dresses, sweet 15 dresses, drapes, quilts, whatever was asked, I would sew. As an adult, I did not sew for myself until 4 years ago.

Four years ago I began testing Pdf patterns for various designers. I then discovered how much I did love sewing for myself and my family. I no longer sew for anyone outside the immediate family, because I want to sew for fun, to be creative, just sew my visions. I also found the love of sewing bags, wallets, and enjoy giving or donating my bags.

I have discovered the importance of having a nice digital camera to take pictures of the garments and items I create, memories mean everything to me. My very best friend, Orbey, has been one of my biggest supporters and camera man for the last 4 years of me testing pdf patterns, Thank You Orbey.

One of my biggest accomplishment and one I am most proud of is this beautiful dress I made a few years back. I am most proud because I sewed/created this dress just before my hand operation. I have bilateral carpal tunnel in both hands. Underwent a carpal tunnel operation in my right hand, it went bad. I no longer have complete use of my right hand, it is closed. I manage to sew with my left hand and the use of my right index finger. I have my day to day struggles, but, nothing, nothing will stop me from sewing and being creative. Sewing is my therapy to staying sane, lol.

I will post more pictures of items made in the past at a later time.
